Hi! Today I want to share a couple samples I made with the Peaceful Wreath Stamp Set; and, let you decide whether you think it is for cards or scrapbooking. So often we look at a stamp set and immediately think we won’t be able to use it for scrapbooking, because it is a card making stamp set. Than there are those stamps or sets that you look at, and can easily see them as multi-purpose. I looked at Peaceful Wreath; and, immediately thought of the pretty Christmas Cards I could make with it.
Once my set arrived, I started playing around with the wreath using different colored markers for the leaves, stems and berries, trying to find which I liked best. Once I had some samples done, I began playing with cherry cobbler and real red as the mat; and, old olive and garden green for the card itself. I knew I wanted the wreath to sit on the beautiful brick wall background made with our brickwall embossing folder.
The sentiment on these three cards comes from a retired hostess set called Good Greetings. Once I had a bow on a card, I decided it needed something, so tried our gold dazzling diamonds; and, liked the way it turned out. The gold goes well on the delightful dijon I used to stamp the bow. Unfortunately, the lighting doesn’t allow you to really get the full affect of the glittered bows. They are so pretty.
This is actually the fifth card, and by this time, I was ready to try something different, namely a scrapbook. I began with white 3″ x 3″ squares, quickly alternating with the cherry cobbler. I wanted a brick wall for the holly leaves, so added a 4″ x 6″ cherry cobbler wall. The one time of the year I miss the snow is Christmas, so I had to add a white 4″ x 6″ softly falling snow embossed piece. Next I added the wreath, and then the journaling squares. For that I used the retired Just Journaling stamp, my “go to” for lines. Not many layouts come together this quickly.
The Joy and Noel are in the Wonderful Wreath Framelits Set; and, the 2015 is from a retired die set. I love how simple this page is! Here is a close up of each side…
I love these Holly leaf boughs! Not real fun to fussy cut, but not bad if you only have one or two.
After playing with this stamp set, my opinion that it is a card making only set, has changed. I can’t wait to try other scrapbook pages with it! So, what do you think? Is this set for cards or scrapbooking? Or, maybe both? I would love to see some of your projects with this stamp set, both cards and scrapbook pages! At least leave a comment and let me know what you think about this stamp set.
Until our next visit, Happy Stampin’ and Scrappin’ , Paula
